FLORAL CONCRETE
Flora Concrete is a perfumery, semi-solid mass obtained by solvent extraction of fresh plant (flowers) materials. Concretes are a product from flowers, namely rose, jasmine, tuberose, mimosa, ylang-ylang etc. Fresh plant material is extricated with a solvent like Hexane. Post evaporation of the solvent a semi-solid remnant of essential oils, waxes, resins and some plant chemicals remains.The concretes partially dissolve in ethanol so they are of little use in perfumery but they scent your soaps.
FLORAL ABSOLUTE
Floral Absolute is a viscous liquid or a semi-solid substance of alcohol-soluble wax, pigments and the volatile oil of the plant material. They are similar to essential oils and are concentrated, highly aromatic, oily mixtures extracted from plants. They are important in perfumery and aromatherapy.
ESSENTIAL OIL
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant’s scent and flavor, or “essence. ”Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence. Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing. Once the aromatic chemicals have been extracted, they are combined with a carrier oil to create a product that’s ready for use. The way the oils are made is important, as essential oils obtained through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils.
